Hello Parents and Students,
Here at Brewbaker Technology Magnet High School we do use technology. Each student is given access to many tools to help them on a daily basis. The more students use the technology the easier their academic life can become. Also parents are provided access to some of the resources to monitor their childs progress. Below find some of the tools and how they are intended to be used.
School Login: Allows the student to log into the computers here at school and do basic computing and printing. At this time most classrooms have enough computers for 1 to 1 ratio with students.
BYOD Logon: By having parents sign the "Bring Your Own Device" permission form and returning it to school students will receive access to free Wifi. This means that they may use their phones with the teachers permission to complete classroom tasks. This permission does not include access to nor use of the wifi outside of class ( e.g. in the hallways between classes or during lunchtime)
Google Logon: Allows the students access to the many resources that google provides to the school system for free. This is the primary way that students should do their work and submit it. (Please do not submit or share work through personal accounts for security/privacy reasons.)
- Google Student Email: This is the official way of communicating with the faculty and staff of Brewbaker Technology Magnet. It is strongly encouraged that students should add this email to their personal devices/phones to receive timely notifications. Email is a low bandwidth means of communicating and has a negligible effect on data quotas.
- Google Classroom: Here students will see a feed of the assignments that are posted to classes in lieu of making paper copies for distribution. Many of these assignments are graded and returned on google classroom directly to students. Parents are encouraged to email teachers both Parent and Student names in a request so that they may see a digest of that feed. (Parents do have to sign in to this service to set their preferences, but may use their current email as the login.) It is once again highly recommended that students install the google classroom app and use it to keep current on assignments on the service.
- Google Drive: Official container of all files we use. This container may hold word processing, spreadsheet and presentations.
- Google Calendar: This is useful to keep students synchronized with teacher calendars. By using the +Google Calendar button on Mr. Lawrence's calendar, students can get instant sync with the teacher calendar.
Inow/Chalkable Student Login: Students are provided with a login to use the grade computer iNow/Chalkable. Within this platform students are able to keep track of their grades and progress. Students are advised to check it frequently and are able to take online assessments.
Inow/Chalkable Parent Login: Parents are provided with a login to use the grade computer iNow/Chalkable. Within this platform Parents are able to keep track of their childs grades and progress. Parents have the additional function of having one login to see all of their children in one account. Passwords may be received from the office after showing proper identification.
